Cusco off the beaten track (6 Days)

Different to most tours offered by other companies, with this trip you will not only get to see the most important highlights in and around Cusco, but you will get to take day trips to regions which are not usually visited by many tourists. You will get to see the Andean Condor soar above the Apurimac Canyon and take a trip way up into the Vilcanota mountain range to get a beautiful panorama of the snow-capped mountains and turquoise glacier lakes of the Andes while Lamas and Alpacas are grazing along the hill sides. Of course you will also see Cusco and its surroundings and visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Machu Picchu. On some of the trips you will need to hike for a few hours, so you should be in good physical condition.

 

Day 1: Visit the ruins of Pisaq in the Sacred Valley and the supply market in Urubamba. In the afternoon you will visit the archeological site of Ollantaytambo.

Day 2: Today you will get to see the salt terraces of Maras as well as the archeological site of Moray. From Ollantaytambo you will take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 3: Guided tour through the archeological site of Machu Picchu. In the afternoon return to Cusco.

Day 4: Drive towards the town of Limatambo and hike to the Apurimac Canyon to see the Andean Condor in the wild.

Day 5: City Tour of Cusco with the archeological sites above the city

Day 6: Daytrip into the Vilcanota mountain range. Short hike along one of the glacier lakes just below the magic mountain of Ausangate.

Day 1:

In the morning you will head towards the Sacred Valley with your private guide and transport where you will visit the ruins of Pisaq. In the afternoon you will get to see the archeological site of Ollantaytambo. On the way there you can pay a visit to the big supply market of Urubamba. (Hotel in the Sacred Valley)


Day 2:

In the morning you will drive up to the circular terraces of Moray which were constructed by the Incas to test the cultivation of different pants. Afterwards a visit to the salt mines of Maras which have been in use since the Incas will give you amazing photo opportunities. In the afternoon you will take the train to Aguas Calients. Day 3:

Early in the morning you can take the bus up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. A private tour through the archeological complex will leave you speechless. The intricate stone work of the Incas is present in all of the constructions. In the afternoon you will head back by train to Ollantaytambo and from there with private transport to Cusco. Day 4:

An early start today will take you with your private guide and transport towards Limatambo and the small town of Chonta way above the Apurimac Canyon. From here it is about a 1,5 hour easy hike along the mountainside to the Canyon of the Apurimac. In the morning winds the majestic Andean Condor soars through the Canyon. In the afternoon on the way back to Cusco you will visit the archeological site of Quillarumioc which means “Moonstone”. (Hotel in Cusco)


Day 5:

Today´s program will take you through the Inca capital Cusco. In the morning you will get to see the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay nand Qenko located above the city. In the afternoon stroll through the colonial cobblestone streets of Cusco, visit the cathedral and the most important temple of the Incas, the “Qorikancha“. (Hotel in Cusco)


Day 6:

A day trip along the famous Interoceanica Highway takes you to the amazing glacier mountains of the Vilcanota. Turquoise lakes glitter below the snow-capped peaks. You get to experience the world of the Alpaca framers which still breed their Alpacas in a traditional way below the magic Apu Ausangate. Highland potatoes are being cultivated in these extreme altitudes. In just a few hours you can reach a region which is hardly visited by tourists and until recently has only been accessible to mountaineers. (Hotel in Cusco)
